Deze citaten zijn zo bekend dat ze door de meeste native Engelse sprekers herkend worden. Sommige ervan zijn afkomstig uit het geschreven Engels (toneel, boeken, gedichten), andere uit films en weer andere zijn afkomstig van beroemde geschiedkundige personen.
